About
BETA Technologies' documented role in the United Arab Emirates is that of a charging-equipment supplier, not an aircraft operator. On 18 November 2025 the company announced through its own investor-relations channel that Abu Dhabi Airports had contracted it to deploy its Charge Cube and Battery Thermal Management System as the emirate builds out an advanced air mobility ecosystem. The release states plainly that the charging system is commissioned at Al Bateen Executive Airport, with an installation at Zayed International Airport to follow. That single commissioned site is, at the time of writing, the only BETA hardware confirmed by a named primary source to be physically in place in the UAE.
The wider network into which that hardware fits was announced separately, and by government rather than by BETA. On 10 November 2025 the Abu Dhabi Investment Office announced the launch of a vertiport network to activate air taxi operations, describing more than ten facilities with an initial phase anchored on Zayed International and Al Bateen Executive airports, and further sites and intercity routes to be announced later. Abu Dhabi Airports was named as anchor investor and primary delivery partner, alongside the GCAA, the Integrated Transport Centre and the Department of Municipalities and Transport. The figure of 'up to 14 vertiports' that circulates in secondary coverage does not appear in either the government announcement or BETA's release; both say more than ten. This reference site therefore does not publish 14.
BETA's earliest verifiable UAE activity predates the charging contract by more than two years. UPS's own corporate newsroom recorded that on 2 March 2023 a licence agreement permitting eVTOL testing in the UAE was signed by H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the GCAA, together with UPS's Bala Subramanian and BETA's then chief operating officer Blain Newton. That document establishes that permission to test was granted. It does not establish that any test flight subsequently took place, and no primary source has been found confirming that a BETA ALIA aircraft has flown in the UAE, in 2023 or since. The trials should be read as licensed but undocumented in execution.
Two claims in circulation could not be supported and are not published here. The first is a BETA pilot-training arrangement with Etihad: Etihad Aviation Training's own eVTOL page names Archer Aviation as its eVTOL training partner and records a memorandum of understanding with Volar Air Mobility, and does not mention BETA at all. The second is any certification standing with the UAE regulator; no GCAA type certificate, validation or acceptance of a BETA aircraft appears in any primary document located. Separately, BETA's own public timeline records an order from e-Smart Group for five ALIA CTOL aircraft with rights to fifteen more, covering planned cargo flights across the EU, UK and UAE — an announced commercial intention by a third party, not a confirmed UAE deployment.

Verification flags
- No primary source confirms any BETA ALIA aircraft has flown in the UAE; the March 2023 GCAA licence covers testing but execution is undocumented.
- The 'up to 14 vertiports' figure in the internal note is unsupported — ADIO and BETA both say 'more than 10'. Origin of the 14 figure not traced.
- BETA-Etihad pilot training is contradicted by Etihad Aviation Training's own eVTOL page, which names Archer Aviation and Volar Air Mobility. Not published.
- No GCAA type certificate, validation, design acceptance or operational approval for BETA aircraft or charging equipment located in any regulator document.
- Abu Dhabi Airports' own website could not be fetched (robots.txt); the charging agreement is sourced from BETA's IR release only, not from a matching Abu Dhabi Airports-hosted statement.
- No primary source names which eVTOL types will use BETA's Abu Dhabi chargers, so no aircraft link is asserted.
- Commercial terms, contract value, number of Charge Cubes and the Zayed International installation date are all undisclosed.
- Whether BETA has any role beyond charging hardware — operations, training or aircraft supply — is unconfirmed.
