About
DXB Vertiport is the world's first purpose-built commercial vertiport. It was constructed by Skyports Infrastructure adjacent to Dubai International Airport (DXB) under a contract awarded by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) following the definitive agreement of 11 February 2024 signed at the World Governments Summit between Joby Aviation, the RTA, and Skyports.
The facility reached technical completion on 16 April 2026, with a ceremony attended by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai. According to Skyports, the vertiport spans 3,100 m² across four floors, features two take-off and landing areas (TOLAs), is equipped with Joby's Global Electric Aviation Charging System (GEACS) for fast charging, and is designed to handle approximately 170,000 passengers per year and 42,000 movements per year. The vertiport is integrated with Dubai Metro at the Emirates Station 2 connection.
Joby Aviation will be the exclusive eVTOL operator at DXB Vertiport under its six-year agreement with the RTA. Commercial operations are targeted for 2026, contingent on aircraft type certification by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), which has indicated a Q3 2026 completion target.

Verification flags
- Skyports has not publicly disclosed the construction cost of DXB Vertiport.
- GPS coordinates above are an estimate adjacent to DXB; precise vertiport-specific coordinates have not been published.
- Commercial passenger operations are gated on GCAA aircraft type certification, targeted Q3 2026 but not yet completed.
- The 'world's first commercial vertiport' framing is Skyports/Joby/RTA language; EHang's pilotless trial flights in Doha (Nov 2025) and Mecca (June 2024) used existing helipads, not purpose-built commercial vertiports — the claim is defensible but reasonable readers will challenge it.
